Taste Gold

For the second year running, Green Pastures (Donegal)’s 100% natural, Yeats Country branded Goats’ Cheese was yesterday awarded a 3 star Gold award by the UK Guild of Fine Food.  The company has also been listed as a producer of one of the top 50 Foods in Britain.

‘We are absolutely delighted’ says John Molloy, Managing Director of Green Pastures (Donegal), ‘It’s a really powerful recognition of our unique soft cheese-making ability here in Donegal’.

Following last years’ awards which included two 3 star Gold’s, the Best Speciality from Ireland trophy for its Yeats Country Organic Full Fat Soft Cheese and no less than eight other Great Taste Gold Awards, the company experienced a significant increase in its home and export business with the resulting increase in jobs on the Convoy site.

Green Pastures (Donegal) has achieved a lot in a short period of time but innovation and awards don’t arrive simply by luck.  ‘Our approach to the art of cheese-making is complete and total love and passion combined with forensic attention to detail from the farms that produce our cheese milk up.  That’s what gets the quality, taste and ultimately the International Awards’ says John.

Great Taste is the biggest independent benchmarking scheme for local, regional and speciality foods in Britain and has been since 1994.  Over 350 professional foodies are brought together each year to take part in 45 days of judging, deciding which foods deserve one-star, two-star or the ultimate three-star awards.

The Top 50 Foods in Britain today is the definitive list of the greatest food and drink available from fine food retailers across the UK and Ireland.  The full list is available at
